Invasions expands Planetfall with a new Playable faction complete with its own campaign, a minor NPC faction, and a handful of new features. The Shakarn are a race of lizards playing off of the conspiracy trope of secret lizard people hidden within society.
When I reviewed Age of Wonders: Planetfall. It turned out to be one of my favorite games of the year. Revelations is a content expansion that adds a brand new secret tech, NPC faction, mini-campaign, and some juicy new game mechanics.
Age Of Wonders: Planetfall shocked me with its depth. It is pretty easy to learn but its strategical roots run deep. It is a rabbit hole you can easily get lost in as hours vanish when they felt like mere minutes.
At a glance, At The Gates resembles one of the Civilization titles, and with good reason. The man whose name is in the title was a designer of Civilization 5. But don’t be fooled, At The Gates is no copy cat game. Jon’s title is its own breed of 4X with a pretty unique formula and interesting systems.
