Together in battle review

Together in Battle Review

Back in 2022, I reviewed a game called Telepath Tactics: Liberated. It was an excellent tactics RPG in the vein of Fire Emblem. I loved the combat to such an extent that I was able to enjoy the fact that it was a linear game, rather than a procedural sandbox in the vein of X-COM or Battle Brothers, which I prefer. Yet, I had deeply wished to have that combat system in such a setting anyway.

Together in Battle is almost exactly that. It’s set in the same world as Telepath Tactics with the same combat system, but it’s much less on rails. You engage in numerous procedural arena battles with a roster of ever-changing characters, alongside scripted story elements and random events.

Doomlings Review

Doomlings Review

Doomlings is a game about playing cards that make up the genome of an evolving species before the end of the world. Mother nature is not most gentle of parents however, so you naturally have the ability to affect and screw over competing species while building your apex Doomling.

StarVaders Review

StarVaders Review

If you put Space Invaders and Slay The Spire in a blender, the aftermath would look a whole lot like StarVaders. The thing is, I love deckbuilding games, but so many Slay the Spire clones land in my inbox every week that they have to really put a unique spin on the formula to impress me.

Wild Gate is a game you shouldn't ignore

Wild Gate Is an Upcoming Game You Shouldn’t Ignore

I’ve been very vocal about how much the homogenization of the game industry is a very bad thing. Yet, most unique games that are released get ignored and flop. I got into the playtest for Wild Gate, and I came away impressed, but with a pit in my stomach. I’m worried that yet another cool game will die because folks are too stuck in their own habits to give it the attention it deserves.
