Roadcraft Review

RoadCraft Review

This is going to be a weird review because my relationships with RoadCraft and its predecessors, like SnowRunner, are a bit weird. You see, after finding my love for Death Stranding, I gave SnowRunner a try and bounced off. I couldn’t imagine anyone finding a game about being stuck in the mud fun. Then I discovered Snowrunner’s hard mode and custom campaign, and I was hooked.

With those modes, fuel, damage, and money all mattered. Getting stuck or flipping a vehicle required me to send another vehicle to rescue it to try and avoid the recovery fee, because if I mismanaged my time and money, I could actually fail the entire campaign. SnowRunner became as much a planning and strategy game as it did a driving sim, and I loved it.

The Genius Design of Oxygen Not Included - A Review

The Genius Design of Oxygen Not Included – A Review

Oxygen Not Included is a survival-focused colony sim where you have to try and help a bunch of hapless fools called dupes (short for duplicates) survive in a pretty unforgiving environment inside different planetoids.

The biggest thing that separates Oxygen Not Included from other games of the genre is its focus on real-world science and physics, or what I assume is a pretty close video game equivalent because what the heck do I know about any of that?

Uncle Chops Rocket Shop Review

Uncle Chops Rocket Shop Review

Uncle Chops Rocket Shop is a game that will make you sweat. It applies a type of pressure I’ve rarely encountered in a video game. Other games will challenge your reflexes, your ability to adapt, and even your ability to think strategically. Uncle Chops Rocket Shop, however, challenges your ability to learn, and apply that learning in various scenarios under the threat of death.

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Review

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Review

MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries is a sandbox-style mech game where you pilot huge hulks of twisted steel and sex appeal. If sex appeal took the form of cannons the size of a Greyhound bus and pods with enough rockets to blot out the sun. You pilot these beautiful machines in either first or third person, but you don’t simply play with a single mech.
